Change

Change is essential to growth. As the brisk air blows I can sense it. The climate is changing and so am I.

As a mother I’ve been given the incredible opportunity to watch our children grow. Day by day, night after long night. I watch them change a little bit more each day. It isn’t until those moments turn into memories that you realize how fleeting they truly are.

Being a mother has changed me.

Motherhood is the most sanctifying and beautiful mess I’ve ever had the privilege of walking through.

” So if you sinful people know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give good gifts to those who ask him. ”  Matthew 7:11

Say What?! Is your mind as blown as mine?? That verse never stood out to me before until now. As I watch our children grow I see a glimpse of the Father’s heart. The magnitude of his love is beyond my grasp.

As I struggle to keep my composure through a tantrum, I’m reminded of his perfect patience. When the girls whisper secrets in my ear, I’m reminded that he is the God who hears. As my children bounce up and down on the couch shouting “ Look at me, look at me! “ ( After I’ve repeatedly asked them not to… ) I am reminded that he is the God who sees me. I remind myself He is slow to anger and quick to forgive.

Let’s be real here, most days I find myself chugging coffee and raising my voice more than I care to admit BUT his grace is sufficient for me. When I lose my cool, which is often. I push past my pride and own it. I’m far from the Pinterest perfect mom but I’d rather strive to be Proverbs 31 anyway.

Being His Daughter changes how I mother.

It changes everything.

Most importantly, it is changing me.

” And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns. ” Philippians 1:6

Friend,

Are you picking up what I’m putting down here? If so, please allow me to encourage you! Change can be painful but the Lord will not cause pain without allowing something new to be born. ( Isaiah 66:9 ) He is doing a new thing! Through him you are a new creation and he is not finished with you yet!

“ The seasons change and you change, but the Lord abides evermore the same, and the streams of His love are as deep, as broad and as full as ever. “

– Charles Spurgeon
